With gas prices at a record high, and the so called "global warming", is it politically correct for me to drive my Hummer H1? It gets 7 miles to the gallon, it has and it has a 38 gallon tank. Last week, I went to go fill it up at the gas station, it cost me 148 dollars and it wasn't even empty.|||Politically Correct? This term doesn't make any sense, and I hate when people use it - but to try to answer the question:
This is a free country, if you want to drive a Hummer, you can and you should. Don't let the tree-hugging liberals tell you that it's wrong. As far as environmentally friendly: who cares? Yes, it uses more gas than most other cars and consequently produces more exhaust - but who actually has any proof that car exhaust has caused any problems.
Practice your free will, drive the car, buy a gun, and fly your American flag.|||Is it politically correct? I don't think the politicians care of you drive a Hummer. You are putting more money into the economy because you are buying gas.
Is it bad for the environment and bad for global warming? Certainly. When methane, methanol or any other type of fossil fuels gets burned in an engine it produces carbon waste (amongst other forms of waste) that oxidize when combustion occurs and produce CO2. This CO2 rises into the atmosphere and , if it is not taken up by one of the natural carbon sinks, continues to trap long wave radiation emitted by the Earths surface.
In my final comment I'd just like to point out that politics has nothing to do with the scientific basis of global warming as much as extremists on either side state it is.|||It's not politically correct or incorrect, it's ENVIRONMENTALLY incorrect because that CO2 - just builds up in the air.
Every MILE you drive, you add 2 POUNDS of CO2 in the air!! Saying that you drive 15 miles/day, just by driving your car, you use 1/4 of the average American CO2 output. And chances are, you drive more than 15 miles/day.|||Sure, you might be putting a little more greenhouse gasses into the air than the average person but there's really no way around that. You'd probably contribute more to CO2 levels if you had them build you a brand new Prius than if you just kept your Hummer.
Hell, it's not your fault they haven't built an electric plug-in 300hp H1. Given the choice between a $17 electric fill up and a $148 gasoline fill up, you probably would have bought the electric one.|||It's nothing to do with "politically correct" its just a case of being bloody stupid.
What on earth is the point of driving a car that only gives you 7 miles to the gallon? I can drive around in a massive great E Class Mercedes, easily big, comfortable and luxurious enough for anyone, and it still gives me 45 miles per gallon.
If you hate your money enough to want to waste it on pointless fuel consumption just send it to me instead, I'll spend it for you.
Jeez.......|||You need to deal with Al gore on this issue, lol.
I鈥檝e wanted to write a piece on the carbon footprints of famous people who are for sustainability and against global warming because I鈥檝e noticed that many of them live in many very big houses, drive many very big cars and fly in private jets.|||dude, it's a car... if you can afford it, GO FOR IT! that's telling everyone "hey i can afford to drive a hummer h1 cuz im successful at making money!". global warming is total bull ****... watch "the great global warming swindle" video if you think global warming is true. hummers don't do ANYTHING to the environment, don't get tricked by some person telling you something|||"Is it politically correct to drive a Hummer H1?"
Yep, course it is, about as politically correct as this woman!
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_uiHxRADP9U4/Rf鈥?/a>|||"Politically"- no problem. You're boosting the Economy... Ecologically -you should be taken out %26amp; Shot. So be CAREFUL of what "kind" of Friends you make !! ;)|||No + it makes you look like you're compensating for some physical shortcoming.|||Be sure to take up 4 parking spaces, too, and merge without looking. Perfect.|||To put it simply? No.|||thats brutal dude, drive drive drive. do whatever you want
