Since Hummer was sold to China, what does this mean for military hummers?

Will we continue to use new military hummers even though we'll have to buy them from china?|||Military HMMWVs have NEVER been made by the former GM subsidiary commercial Hummer brand (the naming rights of which were purchased from the real HMMWV manufacturer AM General)

Edit: You still don't have it straight. GM/Hummer/China has NOTHING to do with military HMMWVs (or Hum-Vs, we rarely call our vehicles HUmmers). AM General is not a part of GM. AM General DID manufacture H1s and H2s for GM though.

Edit: And just for the record, Humvees don't suck. They were a brilliant design and do what they were designed to do magnificently. It was our lack of imagination for future warfare and the haphazard way we tried to rectify that which lead to the Humvee getting a "sucky" reputation.|||The Chinese didn't buy the vehicle, the design, a license to manufacture it (nobody wants it!) All they bought was the -brand-. In fact the brand is worth more than the actual vehicle. In the next year or so we might be seeing Hummer bicycles or Hummer socket wrench sets, Hummer tube socks and sportswear, Hummer mens' cologne and soap on a rope. All cheap junk made in China, like most of the cheap junk we buy, but people will buy it because it has that Hummer brand and they know it won't impoverish them in operating expenses. 8^)|||Hell all most everything is made there now The uniforms that we ware are even made there how great it is that are own country wont even do the work of making the uniforms that protects us so as far as the hummer they will probably buy more of them|||What Wuzzit has the correct answer. The military version is separate from the civilian, and will still be manufactured here by AM General.

EDIT: Ray does too.|||the us military will be discontinuing production of the HMMV in 2012. Contracts to succeed this model are still open for bid .|||I hope not because from what I saw of your current Hummers in Afghanistan they are falling apart. Replace them with something better.|||It was??

I sure hope so. Humvees suck. Maybe they'll replace them with something less buggy. And able to carry 4000 pounds of armor without modifications.|||Military Humvees have fallen out of favor, but anyway they are not made by the same company as the Hummer.|||More preventable US deaths caused by poor equipment installed on the hummers.|||There's a difference between civilian and military Hummers.|||My understanding was that they were already looking for a new vehicle anyway. Something that is more armoured.|||it will still be based in america, new owners same everything.............for now
